Betty Ruth Mullins Bartley

Betty Ruth Mullins Bartley, 91 of Elkhorn City, Ky. was born on March 25, 1930 at Belcher, Ky. and passed away at home on Friday, July 09, 2021. Betty was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Quinnie Chaney Mullins. Betty was a faithful member of the East Elkhorn Freewill Baptist Church, a song leader, a devoted singer and a grocery store owner. In addition to her parents, and husband; James H. Bartley, she was also preceded in death by a son; Oscar Bartley, two grandsons; Jacob Bartley & Daniel Bartley, brothers; Virgil, Eugene, Ercil, Luther Mullins, Junior Chaney & Russell Chaney, Eulon & Elster Mullins, and a sister; Allie Faye Ratliff. Survivors are sons; Donnie (Alpha) Bartley of Shelbiana, Ky., Ronnie D. and Rodney J. Bartley both of Elkhorn City, Ky., daughters; Geneva Bartley Prater and Patsy (David) Salyer both of Elkhorn City, Ky., Revel (Don) Metzger of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Teresa Potter of Nicholasville, Ky., brothers; Bob (Loretta) Mullins of Belcher, KY and Billy C (Rose) Mullins of Mooresburg, TN, sisters; Opal Richardson of Jenkins, Ky. and Sue (James) Hackney of Russellville, TN, grandchildren; Brittany Prater, David M. (Susan) Ratliff, Nathan (Tiffany) Ratilff, John (Kim) Salyer, Matthew (Dawn) Salyer, Jennifer (Jon) Quillen, Alexis & Devon Bartley, Jeremy & Jeffrey Bartley, and Logan Bartley; great grandchildren; Destiny Simpson and Ashley Webb, Holly Ratliff and Kathryn (Katie) Ratliff, Michael Nathan Ratliff, Alexas Johnson, Christian Lowe, David R. Salyer, Maxwell and Evelyn Salyer, Madelyn and Christopher Quillen, Axel and Ryder Bartley, Logan Bartley (Jacob’s); and also survived by brothers and sisters in Christ, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 6:00PM-10:00PM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 8:00AM-10:00PM on Sunday, July 11, 2021 with nightly services at 7:00PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11AM at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley Cemetery on Dry Fork of Marrowbone, Ky. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the East Elkhorn Freewill Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Elkhorn City, KY 41522.

    She taught us all to believe in God, to love Him and fear Him. I’ll never forget her gentle strength. She always had time for any of her children. She always made sure you’d eaten. She had a wonderful laugh, that would light up the room, and you could never know for sure what would make her laugh (often she was just laughing at herself). She cried with us, made us get back up, and kept us going.
