Jimmy Daryl Fuller, 77

Jimmy Daryl Fuller, 77 of Steele, KY passed away Sunday, June 09, 2024 at Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center. Jimmy was a retired teacher with Buchanan County Schools and a member of the Feds Creek First Church of God. He was born June 08, 1947 at Feds Creek, KY to the late Landon Joseph Fuller and Claire Vivian Keene Fuller.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Judith Elizabeth Jones Fuller of Steele, KY; a son, Jimmy Daryl (Heather) Fuller, Jr. of O’Fallon, IL; two daughters, Claire (John) West of Raccoon, KY and Alicia (Nathan) Warnock of Pikeville, KY; ten grandchildren, Summer (Kalob), Hannah, Olivia, J.P. (Emilee), Landon, Trey, Riley, Samuel, Caroline and James; and two great-grandchildren, Elaina Kate and Tatum Cole. He is also survived by a brother, Richard (Karen) Fuller of Lick Creek, KY.

Jimmy was a renaissance man.  He loved leading music at church, growing a beautiful garden to share with the community, woodworking, quilting, and embroidery. He never knew a stranger, and always met people with a smile that beamed from his heart. With a crazy hand shake or a rattle of the chin, he always loved making other people smile.

The common theme present throughout his life; helping others.

Jimmy was that one teacher you always remember.  He made learning fun and the classroom exciting.  He played with kids and made an impact on countless lives.  During his tenure at Big Rock Elementary he taught multiple grades, became the Assistant Principal, coached basketball, and was a Boy Scout Scoutmaster.

After his first retirement as a school teacher, he dedicated his time educating, mentoring, and encouraging students as part of the Pikeville College Upward Bound Program. As an avid gardner, he always sought to learn new and better methods to increase crop production. He enjoyed multiple clubs and classes offered by the Pike County Extension Office. During this time he also served as an assistant girl’s basketball coach at Fedscreek High School.

When Judy joined him in retirement, they became a volunteer power couple. They organized multiple events and cooked countless chicken and dumpling dinners to raise money and support for The March of Dimes and Relay for Life. They also, no matter the time, cost, or need, sacrificed whatever was required in support of their church and community.

His love for family, kids, and grand kids was unmatched. From trips to Pikeville for piano lessons, dance recitals, and sports games to doing chores in the garden, he loved spending quality time with all those around him.  Whether in the car enjoying a snack and the radio, or making biscuits, peanut butter candy, and goodies at Christmas, he was always listening, guiding, and encouraging!

Jimmy was truly an inspirational husband, brother, father, papaw and friend. He truly loved and was truly loved.

Visitation will be from 6-10PM Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with a service at 7PM. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11AM from the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with B. J. Fuller and Mike Stacy officiating.
