Gary “Shotgun” Swiney, 70 of Dante, VA passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at his residence. Gary was born October 19, 1951 at Breaks VA to the late Ray Swiney and Lummie Skeens Swiney. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by ex-wife, Betty Lou Vaughan Swiney and five siblings, Gene Swiney, Verna Mae Hayes, Larry Allen Swiney, Barney Ray Swiney & Richard Swiney. Gary is survived by his fiancee, Ann Sommers of Dante, VA; a son, Gary Shaun Swiney of Clinchco, VA; a daughter, Kimberly (Dennis) Hill of Big Rock, VA; 2 step-children, Brian (Michelle) Clough of Breaks, VA and Jamie Short of Georgetown, KY; five grandchildren, Kayla (Michael) Hurt, Dennis Hill, Jr. Isabella Grace Swiney, Gary Allen Swiney & Jackson Turner; two step-grandchildren, Savannah Clough & Aidan Clough; two great-grandchildren, Mason Cain Hurt & Whitley Cheyanna Shea Hurt. Gary is also survived by a brother, James Luke Swiney of Clinchco, VA & sister, Etta Fay Daughtery of Hurley, VA.
