Carrell Dean Belcher, 78 of Elkhorn City, KY passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center. Dean was born July 12, 1937 in Elkhorn City, KY to the late Himan Belcher & Lenore Potter Belcher Adkins. Dean is survived by his wife, Patricia Jo Slone Belcher, one son, Tim Belcher both of Elkhorn City, KY and three granddaughters, Kori Michelle Belcher, Kala Lynn Belcher Newsome & Tymee Jo Belcher. Dean is also survived by one brother, Bobby Belcher and two aunts, Olive Ward & Pebble Potter. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be conducted at 12Noon Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 from the chapel. Burial will follow at the Potter Cemetery, Elkhorn City, KY.
Dean was a wonderful neighbor and took me and my brother to school many mornings. We pray for your family.

Mr. Belcher was such a great teacher at Jolo and Bradshaw schools. He was exceptionally good to the children and loved to go the extra mile for them and the parents. Loved his snacks and hot apple cider he always had at PTO for Title One! A WONDERFUL EDUCATOR AND MAN!
Dean was a great man. He was a person to look up to. I remember him going to Daytona Beach with us when we were really young. He watched Terry and me close so we wouldn’t get washed away in the ocean. Love the many memories of Dean and Patricia.
May the God of Tender Mercies comfort the Belcher family. When the last enemy death strikes, grief maybe great. God Almighty gives HOPE and PROMISE. All those in the memorial tombs will hear Jesus’ voice and COME OUT (John 5:28,29). God will wipe Out every tear from their eyes and DEATH will be NO MORE. Revelation 21:4
Dean you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. You were very special to me for the kindness you showed to my mother. You were a great friend to my mother. She was devastated hearing of your passing, she just knew that you would pull out of it as you had many times and would call her to let her know you were ok. We know you are pain free and not suffering anymore and we find comfort in that and knowing that we will see you again. Until we meet again Dean, RIP and Fly High.. Me and Mom (Lois Bevins) love you dearly.

Patricia and Tim, I am so sad to hear of Dean’s passing. I know you both will miss him very much. Dean was a very kind and considerate Man. Jesus is happy to have him Home in Heaven!!! My prayers are with you and your family!!
So sorry to hear of Mr. belcher’s passing. We worked with him several years. Such a nice man. Praying God gives you peace and comfort during the difficult days ahead.
Mr. Belcher was my 7th grade teacher at Sycamore School. His way of motivating me was to compare me to my aunt Shirley Cook, she was his classmate in high school and he always said she was the reason he passes algebra!
