James E. Damron, 81 of Belcher, Ky. was born on March 30, 1943 in Ransom, Ky. and passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in the Pikeville Medical Center. He was the son of George Damron, Sr. and Maudie Meadows Damron who preceded him in death. James was a member of the Ferrells Creek Church of Christ and a coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; George, Troy and Jimmy Darrell Damron, sisters; Eloise Bevins and Wanda Thacker. Survivors are his wife; Velma Ratliff Damron, sons; James Everett (Tammy) Damron of Dorton, Ky. and William Darrell Damron of Shelbiana, Ky., a brother; Gary Damron of Shelbiana, Ky, sisters; Janice Damron, Pat Lemaster and, Margaret White, grandchildren; Matt (Dani) Damron, Donna Lowe, Amanda (Matt White) Damron and Julie (Ellis )Hylton, great-grandchildren; Adlyn Damron, Jameson Damron, Beaux Wilson, Skyler Lowe, Kyndall Lowe, Houston Damron, Wren Damron, Connor Doyle, Ariana Doyle, Chloe Doyle, Aubree Hylton and Katelee Hylton, stepgrandchildren; Stephen (Stephanie) Newsome, Samuel (Nikki) Newsome, and step-great-grandchildren; Hunter Newsome, Larra Newsome, Jax Newsome and Gauge Newsome. Visitation will be in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 4, 2024 from 7:00-10:00 PM. Friday, July 5, 2024 from 8:00 AM-10:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, 1:00 PM in the chapel with Jim Ed Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery at Draffin, Ky.
