Willis Ray Stacy, 90, of Gray, TN passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center after a short illness. He was born December 18, 1932, to Earl and Verna Stacy, who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by, his loving wife; Florene, his son, Richard Wayne Stacy; brothers, Blake Stacy, Eddie Douglas Stacy, and Ted Stacy; and sisters, Helen Rowe and Phyllis Adams; and granddaughter, Tabitha Ratliff.
He was a hard-working retired coal miner. After he retired, he kept busy doing yard work, collecting dogs and cats, and babysitting his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren. He was so proud of his family and loved to talk about them to anyone. He was a wonderful, happy man- always smiling. He is so loved and will be so missed. Ray was a faithful Christian and was a great witness for the Lord. He would tell everyone that the best three decisions he ever made were marrying Florine Stalker, having his wonderful children, and accepting Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. He was a member of the First Church of God.
Left to celebrate his life are his sons, Carter (DuRhonda) Lee, of Elkhorn City, KY, Roger (Donna) Dale, of Belcher, KY, and Michael Ray (Kay) Stacy, of Elkhorn City, KY; daughters, Lynn Stacy Wager, of Gray, TN, Janice Marie (Randy) Cantrell, of Elkhorn City, KY; sisters, Sally Fields, of Elkhorn City, KY and Anna Robinson, of Elkhorn City, KY; daughter in law, Cathy Stacy, of Elkhorn City, KY, grandchildren, LeAnn (Alex) Dorton, of Kingsport, TN, Nicole (Chase) Wilson, of Knoxville, TN, Patrick (Aimee) Stacy, of Elkhorn City, KY, Andrew Stacy, of Elkhorn City, KY, Rachel (Brad) Brammell, Caitlin Crum, of Feds Creek, KY, Aaron Rowe, of Elkhorn City, KY, Julie (Matt) Kendrick, of Elkhorn City, KY, Zack (Denisha) Stacy, Audra Lee (Zach) Joseph, of Lexington, KY; great-grandchildren, Landon, Lily and Molly Stacy, Caroline Wilson, Ryder and Sawyer Stacy, Blake Cheney, Josh, Jack, Jenna and Joel Brammell, Shelby Adkins, Mila Kendrick, and his special partners in crime Easton, Axell, and Faysal.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023, in the chapel of Bailey Funeral Home from 6:00-10:00 PM with a service at 7:00 PM with Mike Stacy officiating. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, in the chapel of Bailey Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Scotty Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery, Draffin, KY. Pallbearers will be Carter Stacy, Roger Stacy, Andrew Stacy, Patrick Stacy, Zack Stacy, and Aaron Rowe, and honorary pallbearers will be Alex Dorton, Chase Wilson, Zach Joesph, Matt Kendrick and Brad Brammell.
