Gary Keith Thacker, 47 of Winchester, KY passed away Monday March 2, 2020 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, KY. Gary was born February 14, 1973 in Pikeville, KY to the late Johnnie Thacker & Ella Faye Kiser Thacker. Gary is survived by his wife, Jennifer Rae Murphy Thacker; two daughters, Whitney Danielle Rowe & Allison Faith Rowe all of Winchester, KY. Gary is also survived by two brothers, Johnny Thacker of St. Mary’s, GA and Stonie Thacker of Raccoon, KY. Visitation will be after 6PM Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Berea Bible Church, Phyllis, KY. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 1PM from the church with Frank Crum officiating. Burial will follow at the Keene Family Cemetery, Phyllis, KY.
I’m so very sorry Jennifer , Gary was such a nice and loving person in school . We all went through school together , we watched each other grow into our own person . I couldn’t imagine what you are going through and I know you loved him deeply and I’m so very sorry I couldn’t be there but I’ve been sick with the flu going on 4 wks now . Love and prayers for you and your sweet daughters .
Gary was too good a man to have had this happen. I’m deeply saddened by his passing. We shared many laughs and long hours working and traveling together at Praxair. He was an exceptional IT professional. He worked extremely hard but always kept it fun. We had many lunches together, we shared many conversations. I consider him one of the best people Ive ever known. My deepest condolences to his wife, daughters and extended family. We have lost a great man but now have a guardian angle to look over you.

I worked with Gary at Berea College. I was twice his age, but his amazing work ethic and easy going style, even in crisis was an inspiration to me.
