Jake Bailey, 79 of Blue Ridge, VA passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at the Lewis Gale Medical Center. Jake was born Sept. 6, 1935 in Jane, VA to the late Basil Bailey & Altia Owens Bailey. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Marie Bailey, one son, Michael Jake Bailey and one brother, Aaron Bailey. Jake is survived by his wife, Peggy Vereka Bailey of Blue Ridge, VA, two sisters, Betty Deel of Birchleaf, VA & Mildred Gravel of Lake Wells, FL and five brothers, Dempsey Bailey of Lancaster, OH, Monroe Bailey of Haysi, VA, Toby Bailey of Birchleaf, VA, Teddy Bailey of Lick Creek, VA & Denver Bailey of Elkhorn City, KY. A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was held Sunday, Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at the Bailey-Owens Cemetery, Haysi, VA.
Jake will be greatly missed by many friends, He was one of a kind – a good friend, kind & compassionate to animals, devoted to Peggy, his wife. Jake was a man of many talents as well as a man of faith.
