Leon Adkins, 80 of Steele, KY passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center. Leon was born January 27, 1939 at Phyllis, KY to the late Coonie Adkins & Thursie Justice Adkins. In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Adkins & Clinard Adkins and three sisters, Lavonne Taylor, Evaline Thacker & Gayrene Adkins. Leon is survived by his wife, Jean Hess Adkins of Steele, KY; three daughters, Stephanie (Bryant) Justice of Steele, KY, Diana (Bob) Grogran of Coal City, IL & Lisa (Johnny) Kerr of IL; two sons, Terry Adkins of Steele, KY & Timothy Leon (Cathy) Adkins of IL; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leon is also survived by one brother, Gene David Adkins of Pikeville, KY and three sisters, Judy (Jimmy) Reynolds of Shelby Valley, KY, Sadie Coleman & Kimberly Adkins both of TN. Visitation will be after 6:30PM Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Grapevine Primitive Baptist Church with services nightly at 7PM. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 17, 2019 at 12PM from the church with Tim Slone officiating. Burial will follow at the Thacker Cemetery, Phyllis, KY.
