I was in the class of 1967 at Mullins High School. Mr. Damron was one of the best teachers Mullins could have. Never had him as a teacher as back then girls were not allowed to take shop. One summer he would pick 6 of us up from Fords Branch let us ride to school with him so we could work that summer and have money for school in the fall. My prayers are with all the family. May God Bless each and everyone of you.

Terry and Dixie were my aunt and uncle on my dad’s side. Although I did not see very much of them in my adult life, I am proud to be one of the Damron girls…the family was so loving and talented. And I got some of those talents passed down through the genetic line…thanks for being “my people’ for all these years. We shall all reunite on that beautiful shore and I do expect some signing and pickin’. May you both rest in peace.

  20. Rita Johnson says

I want you to know that many thoughts and prayers are being sent up for your family at this difficult time. Such a sudden loss of both parents at the same time is almost unbearable. May God mend your hearts and flood your memories with the great times that you all shared with them. Dixie and Ross were a very special couple. You could see the love of God in them. They welcomed me into their home many times. I can remember spending some weekends with Loretta Jo and I remember going to a hospital with them once to visit Ross’s Dad Joel. I also remember the swings that were attached to that pole near the river. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. My husband was also friends with Lanny but our paths hadn’t crossed at that time. David lived at the mouth of Road Creek and he said he spent many days at Lanny’s house. God puts special people on this earth to be a blessing to others and Ross and Dixie were difinitley
that….special. Their lives molded many of young people that they came in contact with and I’m sure as the years went on they continued to make an impression to everyone that knew and loved them.
    May God comfort you all.
