Verdie Sawyers, 69 of Belcher, Ky. was born at Ferrells Creek, Ky. on April 17, 1954 and passed away on July 21, 2023 in the Pikeville Medical Center. She was the daughter of Howard and Flo Bingham Wolford who have preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of Christ. Verdie is survived by her husband; Timmy Sawyers, sons; Shannon and Rondall both of Belcher, Ky. and Michael Sawyers of Canada, a daughter; Rachella Leeper of Belcher, a sister; Shelia Ferrell of Virgie, grandchildren; Brittany Belcher, Shellee Medina, Timothy Sawyers, Ayden Sawyers, Tayleigh Sawyers, Josh Lederman and Lucas Lederman, great- grandchildren; Zoey Crider, Josh Belcher, Alyssa Anderson, Keaton Williams, Peyton Williams and Mason Belcher, a sister Shelia Ferrell, daughter- in- laws; Andrea Sawyers and Kate Sawyers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; brothers; Warren G. Elswick, Kyle Gene Wolford and Lanny Dean Wolford, and a daughter- in- law; Tammy Sawyers. Visitation will be from 6:00-10:00 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2023 and Monday, July 24, 2023 from 8:00 AM through 10:00 PM with evening services at 7:00. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, 1:00, July 25, 2023 with Steve Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens in Prestonsburg, Ky.
