Franklin Delano “Toehead” Burgess, 81 of Mouthcard, KY passed away Tuesday, October 05, 2021 at CAMC. Franklin was a coal miner and a member of the Church of Christ. He was born March 14, 1940 at Cabin Creek, WV to the late Harmon Burgess and Hester Purdue Burgess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Innis Burgess and one sister, Leatha Bevins. Franklin is survived by two sons, David Burgess and Franklin Joe Burgess both of Mouthcard, KY; three daughters, Carolyn Gearhart of McCarr, KY, Brenda Kay Clevinger of Rogersville, TN, and Linda Hopkins of Mouthcard, KY; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams, Rachel Hopkins, Cortney Schaffer & Shawntal Justice; and seven great-grandchildren, Madison Williams, Dawson Williams, Natalee Hogston, Emalee Hogston, Rosalee Schaffer, Damian Justice, Devon Justice and Dominic Justice. Franklin is also survived by one brother, Delbert Burgess and his wife, Candy of Grundy, VA; son in-laws, James Hatfield and Sam Cox who were both very special to Franklin and a special daughter in law; Patricia. Visitation will be from 6-10PM Saturday, October 09, 2021 from the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with a service at 7PM. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 1PM from the chapel with Jesse Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Flanary Cemetery, Mouthcard, KY.
