I came to know Lee through marriage. He was one of the strongest and most people I have ever known.
He will be missed by many as he goes to his glory.

Mr. Deel was a gentleman and a scholar. He always had a kind word when we would see him at the Pizza Factory in Haysi. I can remember first seeing Mr. Deel when I would go with my Dad to the high school on a snow day or in the summer. When I worked with their daughter to help her with her school work one year, Lee and Betty were amazing to me, always asking about my wife Pam and her family. My thoughts are with Betty and the family.

I was so very sorry to hear about Mr. Deel. He was one of my favorite teachers. I remember him monitoring lunch lines for “skippers” and we would talk. He will be missed.

Lee was a cousin of mine. His dad taught me through grade school and let me help first grade with reading. It amazed me how his dad, Richard D Deel was in the armed services, and all four of his sons served. I think all four sons were high school teachers after serving their country. How all this was done in our little community with dirt roads, no electricity for a long time, no phones, and no school buses still amazes me. May God bless all of Lee’s family. They will surely miss him.
