Rev. Lowell C. Rice says
It was with sorrow of heart that I learned of Sister Lassie Cool Rogers passing. She and Bro. Fonzo Cool were great mentors to me in my early Christian life. Our association through what was then the Prestonsburg Camp Meeting was an experience that is indelibly ingrained in my mind and heart. I can remember the day when i learned that Bro. Cool died suddernly in his shoe store and the shock that it was, and with Sis. Lassie’s passing i feel that same sense of loss. Bro. and Sis. Cool were two of many people who impacted my life and my Christian journey and today as a pastor in the Church of God for over fifty -two years, I look back on those times with Bro. and Sis. Cool and wonder what my life would be today if it had not been for people like them who guided me, inspired me, prayed for me and encouraged me along the way. Bro. and Sis. Cool were people who made a difference in my life, their lives mattered and they are so greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers and those of the Owingsville First Church of God are extended to the family and to all of those who are diminished through this time of grief and loss. And, as Chairman of the General Assembly of the Church of God in Kentucky, I speak for the Churches of God across the state in acknowledging Bro and Sis. Cool’s great contribution to the Church over their years of ministry and I also acknowledge the wonderful legacy that they leave to us.
