Allen “Jay”May, 86 of Elkhorn City, Ky. was born on Jan. 12, 1932 in Pike County, Ky. to James “Epp” May and Mary Roxie Smith May who has preceded him in death. Jay was a coal miner and a member of Local Union 8045. He passed away at the Landmark of Elkhorn on Wednesday. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers; Duward, Virgil, Reford, Victor and Leonard, sisters; Maudie, Lennie, Ida, Pluma and Ruby. Survivors are sons; Allen May of Pikeville, Ky. and Ralph May of Elkhorn City, daughters; Vicki Hughes of Prestonsburg and Staci Jones of Lexington, Ky., brothers; George of Pompey and Roger of Arkansas, and sister; Loretta Hall of Arkansas, grandchildren; Chris, Jeremy, Josh, Richard, Sara, Rachael, Lauren and Karosta. Visitation will be from 6:00PM-10:00PM on Saturday from the original Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be conducted on Sunday at 1:00 from the chapel with Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery on Little Beaver.
