I served with Clinard in the17t h airborne Division during WWII.He was a true gentleman and a fine paratrooper. We had many goood times before we went into Combat. After the war we remained friends for ver 70 years thru letters, phone calls and indirect e mail. Meeting originally as we did, I was fortunate to be a long time friend of the REBEL. . Joe Quade

Thank you for replying, Mr. Quade: I am one of Clinard’s son-in-laws: (I’ve been married to his oldest daughter, Sheila, for 42 years). The family greatly appreciates your thoughts and comments. He spoke of you — during the few times he would talk about the War.
(We didn’t know his nickname – the Rebel – until now)! We thank you!
