I have what seems like a million memories of Sheila from where we grew up on Feds Creek. The best one is the first one I remember of her. My family moved back to Feds Creek in 1963 after the flood of that year wiped us out. I was in Ms. Anderson’s 3rd grade classroom. I’d stopped by L C’s candy store and was enjoying my morning sugar rush, when I saw the prettiest little blonde-haired girl walking towards me. She’d just come from the candy store, too, and she had one of those chewing wax candies shaped like a harmonica, and filled with a Kool-Aid-type liquid. We started talking, and the subject of our conversation was our favorite candies. I saw her many times after that, and we always stayed the best of friends. Sheila had a disposition that made you glad to see her. Never without that smile when she’d greet you. And always a pleasure to talk to. I will treasure her memory for as long as I am here. I can only express my sorrow on her passing, and my love to her family. May God’s Love see you through this time as you deal with her loss. Take solace in her memory that will stay with all who loved her and whom she loved.
