Melanie J. Sawyers, 50 of Elkhorn City, KY passed away Monday, March 15, 2021, at Pikeville Medical Center. Melanie was born January 26, 1971, at Pikeville, KY to the late Lionel Hackney & Ilene Ward Hackney. In addition to her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Samantha Jade Sawyers, and a brother, Charles Hackney. Melanie is survived by her husband, Timothy Sawyers of Elkhorn City, KY; one son, Billy Sawyers; two daughters, Haley Sawyers & Sarah Sawyers; and three grandchildren, Aubrey Tibbs, Carson Tibbs & Jasley Faith Sawyers all of Elkhorn City, KY. Melanie is also survived by five siblings, Lloyd Hackney, Ingrid Thacker & Bobby Hackney all of Elkhorn City, KY, Anna Adkins of Robinson Creek, KY, and Stevie Hackney of Louisville, KY.
