Bennett L. Johnson, 92 of Elkhorn City, KY passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center. Bennett was born November 16, 1926 at Dunleary, KY to the late Tom Johnson & Jetti Thacker Johnson. In addition to his parents, Bennett was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Elswick Johnson, a great-grandchild, William Emerson Johnston, three brothers, Paul Johnson, J.O. Johnson & Fon Johnson and one sister, Juanita Stapleton. Bennett is survived by a son, Mike (Rose) Hale of Elkhorn City, KY; one granddaughter, Julie (Johnnie) Ross of Rochester, NY; one grandchild, Cameron Johnston; and two great great grandchildren, Cameron Johnston & Landon Johnston. Bennett is also survived by a brother, Donald Johnson of Lexington, KY and a sister, Marinette Johnson Burgess of Huntington, WV. Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2018 from 11AM-12PM at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 5, 2018 at 12PM from the Chapel with Frank Crum & Reverend Johnnie Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
I will so miss my dear Uncle Bennett. His love for and delight in our family always shone in his eyes and was ever present in his actions. I will always remember the sound of his quiet, melodic voice. I love you, my uncle, forever and a day.
