Alvin Barkley “Pap” Sawyers, 75 of Lick Creek passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, KY. Alvin was born October 30, 1938 in Pike County, KY to the late Tom Sawyers & Ora Hunt Sawyers. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by several siblings. Alvin is survived by his wife, Lucille Justice Sawyers of Lick Creek, three daughters, Cynthia Collins & Celia Sawyers both of Lick Creek and Crystal Chapman of Johns Creek and three sons, Barkley Sawyers, Jordan Lyle Sawyers & Jamison Barclay Sawyers all of Lick Creek. He is also survived by three sisters, Grace Williamson & Lydia Williamson both of Lick Creek, KY and Olga Bickford of Rockhouse, KY. Visitation will be after 6PM Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the First Church of God, Lick Creek, KY with services nightly at 7PM. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 11, 2014 at 2PM from the church. Burial will follow at the Sawyers Cemetery, Lick Creek, KY.
