Lonetta R. Merritt, 80

Lonetta R. Merritt, 80 of Elkhorn City, KY passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her residence. Lonetta was a member of the Elkhorn City Baptist Church, KY Retired Teachers Association, Pike County Retired Teachers Association, Elkhorn City Area Homemakers & The Elkhorn City Heritage Council. Lonetta was born May 28, 1937 at Harless Creek, KY to the late Lon Rowe & Flossie Coleman Rowe. In addition to her parents, Lonetta was preceded in death by her husband, F. M. Merritt. Lonetta is survived by one son, Perry Neil Merritt of Elkhorn City, KY; one daughter, Debra Merritt of Dandridge, TN; one grandchild, Terence Merritt; two step-grandchildren, Adam Ward & Aaron Ward; and three great-grandchildren, Teegan Merritt, Sophia Kate Ward & Eli James Ward. Visitation will be from 6-10PM Wednesday, May 2 & Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with services nightly at 7PM. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11AM from the chapel with Aaron Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, KY.

    So sorry to hear of Lonetta’s passing. She, Jackie Kerr and I walked together many years ago. I really liked her. She was a great lady. My deepest Condolences to the family. R.I.P. Lonetta!
